HAMTRAMCK, Mich., Updated 6:25 p.m. EDT July 29, 2000-- A 17-year-old girl who was one of four people hit Friday night by a car in Hamtramck has died.
The four were crossing the street at Conant and Caniff when, police said, a 46-year-old woman ran a red light.
Hamtramck Police were called to Conant and Caniff around 11:15 p.m. when a vehicle hit four people who were crossing the street, according to police.
All were taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital.
The woman driving the car was taken into custody and could be charged Sunday with driving under the influence. Police said her alcohol level was three times the legal limit for driving in Michigan.
They have reason to believe the woman had been drinking all day.
