Student Killed After Being Hit By Car
Accident Still Under Investigation
LIVONIA, Mich., Updated 5:52 p.m. EST November 20, 2000-- Family and friends of a Livonia teen are mourning his death after the Franklin High School student was hit and killed on his way to school Monday morning.

Police said that it was an accident, but the driver of a Ford Ranger that hit the teen could still face charges.

The accident occurred Monday morning around 7 a.m. at the intersection of West Chicago and Merriman.

Student Christopher Kempa, 16, was rushed to St. Mary's Hospital immediately following the accident, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Eastbound and westbound West Chicago were blocked in that area, as was northbound Merriman, for authorities to conduct an investigation at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.

The school has provided counselors for the students.
