Try Making A Fried Turkey
Frying Takes Less Time Than Oven Cooking
A quicker alternative to cooking a turkey is frying it. Here are the instructions for a tasty fried turkey.
Choice of turkey weight is very important. Choose a turkey between 8 and 12 pounds. It takes three minutes a pound to deep fry. You will want to fry the turkey less than 50 minutes. That's why it's best to use a small turkey.
Marinade ingredients: - Melted butter
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Crystal Brand hot sauce
- Crushed red pepper
- Black pepper and salt
- A dash of brown sugar
The amount of these ingredients will differ on how much you need to make. An 8-pound turkey needs about 12 ounces of marinade.
Once the marinade is completed, using a turkey injector, put a couple of ounces inside of the turkey. Put one to two ounces on each large part of the turkey, including the breast, thighs, legs, under parts.
Rub remaining marinade all over turkey to make sure marinade is spread evenly throughout turkey.
Deep frying instructions:
Using a frying kit, place the turkey legs up on the turkey rack.
Peanut oil in the deep fryer should be between 350 degrees and 375 degrees. Lower the turkey slowly into oil, marking sure to watch for splashing.
You should check the turkey about every 10 minutes.
After removing the turkey, let it cool for about 15 minutes. If it's not completely done you can load it into the oven for a little additional cooking.
Parents are advised to keep kids and animals away from fryer.
Many organizations issue warnings about frying turkeys. Read why.
